At my first layover, I received notice of 3 job interviews. One is tomorrow and another has been set up for Thursday afternoon. The first half of my long flight was awful as I got sick for the first time on a plane. The last half I was feeling better, but wanted it to end and it seemed to last forever! A"SM" and my family met me at the airport. I talked with a couple friends and verified plans for tomorrow then shortly crashed afterwards.
The next day, my family went with me to my church. It was SO AMAZING to walk into my church and see my church family! My plans had involved meeting 2 friends for lunch. The arrangements I had made were to let them know when I got back from church and have them pick me up. My mom told me she had talked to them instead saying they'd drop me off at the restaurant and my friends would meet me there. I found it amusing that my mom didn't trust that I was fully functioning the day before to plan well!
I had lunch with my friends and was looking forward to giving them the things I had got from Nepal for them, but discovered the driver wanted to show me what she had done at her house. I didn't think anything of it 'cause she HAD been doing a lot of renovations. I come into the house to see a "Welcome back" sign on her wall. :) Again, didn't think anything of it! Just thought she had made the sign for me similar to what my parents had done for when I arrived from the airport.
I go upstairs to discover many other friends sitting in her living room! My 2 friends had invited me out to lunch as a coverup to throw a surprise welcome back party for me afterwards! Some friends from college, 10 years ago, prekindergarten, work, church, Peace Corps, and game night crew came!!! I was completely shocked and had no idea! They had all come to welcome me back to the States. Not only that, they had also contributed to getting things I had been looking forward to when I returned. COFFEE!!! Hair supplies, and etc.
I was able to see people I thought I wouldn't be able to see for awhile. I got to spend time with everyone for a little catch up... Words cannot express how rich in friends and how blessed to have them in my life! It reiterated that even though I had left my PCV/Nepali family, I had come back to friends and family that would continue to be just as supportive as they have been! I am still in awe of the overwhelming support and love...
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Know y'all are loved and greatly appreciated!!!!!
