My permanent site is in western Nepal. I will have 2 other volunteers in my group in the same district and one current volunteer. I am also pretty close to another district where 4 other volunteers in my group and one current volunteer are located. I'm definitely excited to finally know, but there are also other things I need to concentrate on.
By the time y'all read this, I'll be attempting to have a conversation in Nepali for the mock LPI. It is just to show where we are in our language learning, but its still pretty nerve racking. Keep me in your prayers!
My Ama calls me Nani, which I thought was a shortened version of my name. However, my LCF after visiting one day said it was an affectionate term for young women. My Ama also said she wouldn't be seeing me off at the office when I leave because she'll be very sad. I told her I wasn't thinking about that day either. I'll have mixed emotions that day for sure!
The week that we learned directions was rough because one night I wasn't able to sleep, which the lack caused me to get emotional and cry a little. A couple days later I got a migraine...everything is good now, though. I loved that quite a few people from the office came down to support us when we got our placements.
The country director knew who I was when we first met at IO. The financial guy asked me about my hometown as he used to work around there. I mean, I know I sent a bunch of information about myself, but I still find it awesome that they read through and remember all of it!
I'll continue to blog as I can and update. Hope y'all are doing well like I am!
