Any who, I got an intermediate low on my LPI. I'll need to be at a intermediate mid in the next couple of weeks before swearing in, but considering I speak better Nepali than I did during the test and I thought with how bad I thought I had done that all I'd get is a novice high...as long as I continue talking in Nepali to others and studying I hopefully will be OK. :-)
Teehar festival was last week and was awesome! I prefer this celebration over Dashain. Again, the reasons behind the celebration I could do without, but I do like the idea behind the last of the 5 day festival. It is celebrating our brothers and wishing them long lives. Of course, there should be a festival where brothers do the same for their sisters, but if there is one it hasn't come up yet. It's crazy to think we'll be here only another 2 weeks or so before going to our permanent site! Time has certainly flown by for me.
Last week we played tourist where a couple of us found a shop that said iced coffee. Of course, we had to go in because while I do have coffee - it's hard to brew it at the moment and having ice is a rarity here. It took longer to get it than we thought however so the rest of the group had to wait for us, but it was certainly worth it!
There have been quite a few times where I have taken a step back and evaluated how I feel. It still seems surreal, but I am completely in my element. I sometimes wonder what y'all back home would say seeing me living in the house I'm in at the moment, how I've been adapting to this new culture, and etc. This is what I want to do with my life - serve others and empower them to be how God created them to be.
As much as I've missed having my friends that know me and how random I can be without my needing to explain things...I love that God has been reminding me of who I am to Him and really? That's truly all that matters!!!
